The 7-Step Model for Change describes the process people go through as they move through life transitions and/or make positive changes in their life. It is often a sequential 7-step model that begins with the person getting clear on what you want, and then actualizing their desired results and maintaining those changes over time. This is the successful model for change that I was taught at The Life Purpose Institute in my Life Coach training.
Listed below are the steps in the 7-step process that I follow to help people who have a desired change or life transition: may it be a change you want for yourself, your relationship, or your desire to change your work. Step one of the process, self exploration, takes the most time as it is a process we cannot rush. Please leave 1-1.5 hours for this session.

Step 1. SELF EXPLORATION PROCESS
The purpose is to guide you to learn more about yourself, who you are and what you want in all areas of your life. Working with a series of questions and handouts, you will clarify the key components of your ideal life or career and generate a list of new possibilities you might pursue.
In this step, I’ll help you uncover the "puzzle pieces" that will go into creating your ideal life, career or life direction. We call these Components. As we gather the Components, they begin to integrate and form pictures of what you might enjoy. We call these Possibilities.
Step 2. OVERCOMING BLOCKS AND OBSTACLES TO SUCCESS
When people go through a Self Exploration process, blocks and fears often arise. We set a goal to work through blocks to assist you to resolve anything standing in the way of moving forward in your life.
You may discover some blocks that can be resolved through Action-determining the steps you need to take, acquiring new skills (or information) or formulating a plan. You may also encounter blocks that are resolved through Inner Process-beliefs, fears, internal conflicts, or resistance to change. A series of Inner Process techniques and compassion will help you resolve the blocks, so that you can easily move ahead with your goals.
Step 3. OPTIONS AND CHOICES
The purpose of Options and Choices is to coach you to turn your Possibilities into viable life or career Options. This step also includes techniques to help people to determine their priorities and make good choices.
Step 4. RESEARCH OR “TESTING OUT”
The goal of Research or “Testing Out” is to have you imagine, experience or discover which of your options will work best for you.
Step 5. STRATEGIC PLAN
The purpose of Strategic Plan is to help you develop a clear, effective and focused strategy that will help you achieve your chosen option(s) or put new choices, decisions and goals into action.
Step 6. MAKING AND SUSTAINING CHANGE
The purpose of Making and Sustaining Change is to guide you to act on your Strategic Plan, navigate the challenges that come with making a transition and achieve your desired results.
Step 7. MASTERING SKILLS
The goal of Mastering Skills is to acquire any skills or knowledge you need to transition into your new life.
The process above is the overall plan to help you navigate your desired change, however, sometimes along the way, other issues arise “issues du jour” and we will direct our attention there instead—if that is what you need. In Life Coaching, Life happens and our time together is driven by you. My goal is to help you feel heard, provide a safe place to say what’s on your mind, ask you powerful questions to better understand your self, inspire you to create a plan for the life you want, and motivate you to get there.
